Just Say No...

to drugs.

And not just street drugs, or prescription drugs.  But OTC "boost your energy" drugs.  I took one of those 5 Hour Energy Shots today, in hopes of getting an extra boost of energy to study the day away.  I have a fairly large and important biochemistry test tomorrow morning over carbohydrates and lipids and everything in between, and I haven't been sleeping well at all lately due to that stress coupled with being sick with the common cold.  So after church this morning, I figured I would just grab one of those shots and that would keep me awake and focused.  Instead, it brought out all the crazy emotions I normally have, except those emotions were on steroids*.  I got flushed, my heart started to race, I couldn't sit still, my muscles were twitching, I was breathing heavily.  I couldn't even keep my eyes focused on anything longer than 5 seconds.  Needless to say, it was not conducive to studying.

Consequently, instead of capitalizing my last day of cramming and review, I wasted it trying not to pass out.  And in the act of doing so, I was annoying everyone** around me because I was irritable and moody as all get out.

So seriously kids, just say no.

*I can now tell you the structure, source, and function of steroids if you would like to know.

As personal witness to Elisabeth’s drug induced stupor, I provide my testament to the validity of her most accurate assessment regarding the undeniable negative ramifications of using emotionally altering OTC drugs! She remains erroneous on one account, however. In my role as the “giving liver,” I experienced no moments of “annoyance” as she indicates in her blog. Rather, I felt powerless as I mobilized my FA reserves after exhausting my gluconeogenic products to form the Acetyl – CoA that Elisabeth so desperately needed to combat the effects of the drug! Unfortunately, for me, I entered into a pathologic state as I was forced to turn to my Ketone Bodies to create even more Acetyl – CoA in order to appease the seemingly endless demands of the super drug as Elisabeth and I staggered about in our attempts to flush the drugs from her overwrought system! Yet, undeniably, I feel no regrets and remain ready and willing to repeat my role as necessary!

Uuuggghh! Sorry, everyone, I didn't realize that Elisabeth was still logged into my computer! Comment one was supposed to be from me.

No offense, its no offense.

I'm going to say that the reason it might have affected you so drastically, is due to the fact that your body type is not one made to dilute such a complex compound. If you'll notice those who advertise it on TV, it is big, professional athletes such as Braylon "oil hands" Edwards, and racecar driver Carl Edwards. Hmm, coincidental name, since one is caucasian and one is black. Anyhow... skinny 20-something girls are bound to feel the effects faster than a 220+ pound big dude - similar to the effect on alcohol.

For instance, if we gave elisabeth a huge margarita then who knows what would happen..........

Thanks for making yet another mistake so I know what to avoid in the future. Your life has been irreplaceable in my development as a normal, upstanding contributor to society.
